Dues revenue is a lot more limited than non-dues because there are only so many businesses in your area and you have set amounts that you charge them. You can only raise dues by so much each year so the real increase in revenue is going to come from non-dues sources.

Think Beyond Events
Events are a good source of non-dues revenue but they can also be very time-consuming and labor intensive. Unless you can create an event that is wildly successful and appeals to a vast majority of your members or community, there are easier ways to bring in the non-dues revenue.
What Can’t They Do for Themselves?
What can you offer easily, for little time and money, that your community would find value in? So much value, in fact, that they would pay for it? That might be discounted classes, online courses, a mastermind group, etc. Brainstorm about what your community needs and what you could easily provide.
When deciding what they need, make sure that they not only need it but are aware of their needs. If you have to educate them on the need for addressing the problems you think are evident, they may not be as quick to adopt your solution or non-dues revenue idea.
Look for a Solution that Requires as Little Work as Possible
Okay, this seems painfully obvious but whether we’re referring to the cost of your time or that of your staff;s, everything you do costs money in some sense. The ideal equation for non-dues revenue is a big draw and a small cost. That makes things like chamber trips or learning sessions put on by others, pretty valuable. In both of these instances, outside of marketing, there’s very little your chamber needs to do. Plus both of them may bring in a different crowd than what you’re used to seeing at your chamber events.
