Your sponsors are very valuable to your chamber operations and chances are you rely on a select few to help make your events successful. That’s why it’s so important to show them the appreciation they deserve for their investment. But how do you do something that is meaningful to them?
4 Tips to Thank Your Sponsors
Your sponsors may be large national brands or smaller local ones so finding a thank you gift that fits them all may be difficult. Try to be as consistent as possible so that someone doesn’t feel like you are playing favorites. Here are a few ideas:
- Help Them Tell Their Story. Your sponsors may have a marketing department and may have a story fleshed out. But if their story has anything to do with community involvement your help can validate it. Don’t just thank them publicly on social media. Speak with their marketing person and find out how they are marketing themselves and what they want most to convey. Helping them in that area will be more meaningful.
- Make introductions. Check with them on a regular basis and ask them if there’s anything they need and anyone they specifically want to meet. Make that introduction but keep in mind they may not know who it is they want to meet so make sure this is a conversation, not just a question. Figure out through that conversation how you can be your most helpful.
- A symbolic gift. The Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce tied a card to a skeleton key and presented it to each of their sponsors. The card read “Key to our success.”
- Handwritten notes. The South Tampa Chamber of Commerce sends handwritten notes to their sponsors throughout the year. It not only conveys their appreciation but stands out since most communication between business professionals is done through email these days.
