As the leader of business in your community, you probably always knew chambers were the head (or at least part of it) but chambers also host events that have become synonymous with the town itself and their traditions. Often people can’t think of the 4th of July without thinking of the chamber’s Independence Day Parade or Christmas without Caroling on the Square, hosted by the chamber.

A member of the Chamber of Commerce Professionals Facebook Group recently asked,
What are some of the best events your Chamber hold? Does not necessarily mean money generators either.
Chamber Events Connect the Community
The chamber professionals had a host of wonderful traditions to share from events that tug on the heart strings to economic summits that provide unique information. Here are a couple of them:
Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Forum
At this informative annual event, the speaker is a top economist or finance professional. This year the Wichita Falls chamber is hosting the new president of the Dallas Federal Reserve.
What makes this event special? It draws a different type of member — the “serious business person” — who doesn’t attend other chamber mixers and events. It provides the chamber “a great opportunity to reinforce the reasons for chamber membership to a different audience,” according to Henry Florsheim, President and CEO.
Elko Area Chamber’s Home and Business Expo
The Home and Business Expo is the chamber’s largest event, and this year marks its 38th anniversary. On average 3,000-4,000 people attend the event that spans 2 days. They have about 80 vendors and it’s an enjoyable weekend.
These are just two examples of what chambers are doing. Other chambers shared their Snowball Drop, Regional Women’s Expo, video horse racing event, a AG Scholarship Luncheon, Yorkfest, and many others that are as varied as the chambers that host them.
