Creative Ideas for Chamber Golf Tournament Holes

Since today is St. Patty’s Day, a little talk o’ the green seemed to be in order and what better green than that of the fairway?

A member of the Chamber of Commerce Professionals Group on Facebook asked,

What’s been your most successful/most fun hole activity at your golf outing?

Creative suggestions for fun golf tournament holes
Creative Ideas for Chamber Golf Tournament Holes

The chamber professionals had many entertaining and profitable ideas such as:

Opportunities to Improve Your Score

For $20, one chamber offered golfers on the 18th hole the ability to have the chamber’s executive director (and occasionally a board member) hit the ball for the golfers from half-way down the fairway. This gives the golfer an opportunity to connect with the ED (hopefully it’s a good shot) and not spend as many strokes on a hole.

Good for Laughs

One of the funniest responses on the page was a chamber that asked their local plumbing supply business to bring a commode to the course. For a small fee the golfers could drive from the “potty” as long as some part of the golfer’s body was touching it. If they got on the green from that shot, they were entered into a drawing. The winner received half the pot. Very entertaining and I’m sure it produced some Instagram-worthy shots.

Another funny golf tournament gimmick is the duck shot. The chamber sold little rubber ducks for $5. The golfer had to hit one off of the tee. Whoever was able to hit it the farthest won a prize. Most people were surprised how little distance the ducks go and they tried more than once to hit it. The United Regional Chamber of Commerce reports it is a big money maker for them and provides a lot of good laughs.

Experts Only

A final idea for golfers: for $5 they can try to hit a marshmallow off of the tee into a kiddie pool 50 yards away. If they’re able they get half of the proceeds for the marshmallow fee pot. if there’s more than one winner, they split it that many ways.

There were several other creative, and often hilarious, chamber gold tournament ideas presented so click over to the conversation here.
