I am sad to say it but it is the plain truth.
In some very serious ways, the chamber industry is simply broken
Why, for instance, are most chambers so woefully understaffed? Why are they so underfunded? Why are the vast majority of chambers struggling to attract, much less retain new members? Why are chamber professionals so busy, so crunched for time, that they can hardly get their jobs done, meet with members, and still have time for a life?
Check out these answers to a recently asked question by a member in the Community:
And why is the turnover in this industry so darn high? Think of all the friends and colleagues you have watched leave.
It is a crying shame.
These aren’t just rhetorical questions. I am not trying to stir the pot. This is important! The answers to these questions affect not only your chamber, but your life and your standing in the community.
Frankly (I can be ‘Frank’ with you, right?), I am sick of it.
Things have got to change!
Envision this, chamber professional…You are in a large meeting with local business and community leaders. As you look around, you realize that, even among this group of successful leaders, you are one of the most highly compensated and respected professionals in the room.
You start to think about your chamber, how respected it is. You have a large staff of experts that anyone would be proud of. They are all top-notch (and equally well compensated). It dawns on you that your organization is thriving, even booming. You are blessed with the time and resources to take risks, to innovate, and effect positive change.
A big smile comes across your face as you think about how far your chamber (and the chamber industry) has come and how much good it is doing for the community. Membership is way up, retention is up. Simply put, your chamber is living up to its full potential (which is immense).
Sadly, for most chamber professionals, this isn’t their reality. They are struggling. Perhaps you can relate?
What got us here won’t get us there!
Look, don’t get me wrong. I am not casting blame. I am looking for solutions. For instance, I am huge fan and supporter of all the chamber professional development programs. I am a graduate of the W.A.C.E.’s Academy program. I am on the faculty of the U.S. Chamber’s Institute for Organizational Management (IOM). These continuing education programs are effective and worthwhile. Matter of fact, they are indispensable.
However, it is time for radical thinking. For revolutionary, turn the industry on its head ideas (grounded in the future, not the past). It is time for chamber professionals, like you, and me, to take an active leadership role and get your chamber, and this industry, to live up to its full potential!
Your Invitation
If you feel like I do, I am offering you a chance to lead. To innovate. To grow your chamber, your community, and your career. This is your invitation to share what you are doing at your chamber, your chance to leave a legacy of future-thinking and innovation.
Sure, this group I am inviting you to has chamber-specific training webinars and videos, courses and guides, expert interviews, etc. But that isn’t the real value. The BIG VALUE is in the fresh ideas and discussions among the top chambers leaders like yourself, from around the world. As Greg Durocher, President/CEO of the Cambridge, Ontario Chamber of Commerce said of the group,
“What you have built has made me a better Chamber Exec, a better thinker, a better innovator, a better contributor to my peers in this business.”
Big ideas…
Are you familiar with the Universal Chamber Membership Model? What about chambers being Media Companies? Or chambers leveraging their online relationships to facilitate International Trade Deals?
These are just a few of the BIG, innovative ideas that are being discussed in the group. And this is just the beginning.
- Today, we are announcing the launch of the Chamber Incubator of Ideas (CIOI) where big ideas (radical thinking) are being discussed.
- We are also announcing the International Chamber Trade Forum (ICTF) where you can help your members find partners (world-wide or next door).
- Finally, check out the Chamber Q & A. Get answers to all your chamber questions, direct from your colleagues.
Our Guarantee to You
We are so confident you will find value in this group that we are providing you access to the Chamber Professionals Community (CPC) for only $1 for the first month.
Plus, you get our unconditional promise that, if for any reason at all, you want a full refund for the prior month, all you need to do is email us and we will gladly refund your money, no questions asked.
Not for Everyone
Now, if for some reason you don’t want to be exposed to these ideas and innovations, then by all means don’t join in the discussion with your peers and colleagues. Innovation and change carries risks and not everyone in the chamber industry is open to it. We get that. Your chamber won’t gain the visibility or recognition for your innovations and ideas, of course, and that is almost as much as a shame as the fact that your ideas won’t be made available to others in the group.
On the other hand, if you want to give back to the industry, if you want to innovate and grow your organization (and career) into the powerhouse it has the potential of being, then simply click the button below and start learning, sharing, and growing.
