Your board members have a lot to do with your success. A great board is a wonderful help, while an inactive board can feel like you’re pulling a really heavy load. For this reason a lot of chamber executives chose to give their helpful board members a gift of thanks this time of year.

Recently on the Chamber of Commerce Professionals Group on Facebook several chamber staff members shared what they do for their board members to make them feel special and appreciated.
Gift Ideas for Your Chamber Board
Appreciation is key and much more important than the gift it’s attached to. However, gifts are very nice too. Here are ideas from other chamber of commerce professionals.
Homemade Food
There were quite a few chamber execs who made their boards breakfast or created another delicious goodie like homemade caramel popcorn, chocolates, or bourbon balls.
Hometown Goodness
Another nice touch is something that is exclusively from your town, a little something that says this is us and we are wonderful.
Acknowledgement
Some execs give cards and take the time to thank each board member in a personalized greeting. Often board members are prominent people in the community and they may not want for a lot of material things but written appreciation is something everyone loves.
Ornaments
Personalized ornaments with the chamber name and date are a nice memento.
Unique Homemade Gifts
One chamber executive has a handy husband who made wood turned pens out of exotic wood. Not only is it a nice souvenir of their service, it’s also a functional conversation piece.
Food
Several chambers made nice meals for their board or had extra special treats at their December meeting.
Reflection of the Year
Some chambers gave gifts that tied into what occurred at the chamber that year. For instance, one held its first chamber trip to China and the board received a Christmas gift of Chinese teas with a clever note of “You’re worth all the tea in China.”
