How to Create Low-Tech, High-Engagement Holiday Videos for Your Chamber

December is always a challenge. You’re trying to stay visible, relevant, and human while everyone is buried in events, year-end deadlines, and holiday noise. No one has any time for anything.

That’s where creativity helps.

Sure, you could post another “Happy Holidays from <insert chamber name>” graphic and call it a day. Or you could hijack the collective nostalgia of classic Christmas songs and poems and turn them into fun, scroll-stopping content that quietly reminds people why your chamber matters.

Familiar formats like “My Favorite Things,” “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” and “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” work beautifully for chambers because:

  • People already know the rhythm and structure (They’re the kind of songs you can hear in your head on repeat.)
  • They feel cozy and nostalgic
  • Your audience can instantly “get” the joke and keep watching
  • You can sneak in real value: advocacy, support, events, shop local, and membership benefits

Below are three ready-to-adapt ideas you can use as templates for your own chamber holiday content.


1. “Deck The Halls” … with Chamber Value

“Deck the Halls” is simple, upbeat, and instantly recognizable. Perfect for a quick, fun video that shows off what your chamber does for businesses all year.

You can:

  • Record staff, ambassadors, or board members each performing one line
  • Overlay the lyrics on B-roll from events, ribbon cuttings, and shop local scenes
  • Use it as a Reel, TikTok, or Facebook/Instagram video with photos from the year

Sample Chamber Version

You can sing or simply speak this to the tune of “Deck the Halls” using entirely new lyrics:

Show the power of our members’ brilliance

You can tweak lines like:

  • “local business” → “Main Street magic” or “waterfront businesses”
  • “speaking loudly” → “on your side now” or “at City Hall now”
  • “your protection” → “your growth and progress”

How to Use It

  • Video idea:
    • Each person on your team says or sings a line
    • Cut in shots of real members, your downtown, and past events
    • Add captions with key phrases like “advocacy,” “networking,” “shop local,” “support”
  • Static or carousel post:
    • Each slide gets a couple of lines with photos that match
    • Final slide: a call to action such as “Join <insert chamber name> and help us deck the halls with thriving businesses in <insert town name>.”

Why It Works

Every verse quietly reinforces what the chamber actually does: connection, advocacy, visibility, and community pride. Plus, everyone recognizes the rhythm within seconds and it feels festive without being overly promotional.


2. “The Twelve Days of Christmas” as a Chamber Countdown

“The Twelve Days of Christmas” is basically a list of features wrapped in a melody. That is perfect for chambers, because you have a long list of benefits people forget about until you remind them. (Best of all, the original carol is in the public domain so there aren’t any rights concerns on it.)

You can:

  • Create a single fun video with one person “singing” through the list
  • Use each “day” as a separate social post in a 12-day campaign
  • Turn it into a printed or emailed graphic: “12 Ways Your Chamber Supports <insert town name>”

Here is a starting point you can customize:

On the 12th day of Christmas, my chamber gave to me

12 networking breakfasts
11 sponsor shoutouts
10 new introductions
9 shop local ideas
8 learning luncheons
7 ribbon cuttings
6 advocacy wins
5 warm leads
4 marketing boosts
3 town hall talks

And a strong voice for business in <insert town name>

Now tailor it:

  • Swap in your real offerings: committees, councils, roundtables, awards, leadership programs
  • Add something uniquely local: “a parade down Main Street,” “a waterfront wine walk,” “a festival on the square”
  • Make “a strong voice for business” your final line, or change it to your tagline

How to present it:

  • Video idea:
    Have staff or board members each hold up a sign with their “day” and say it on camera. Edit the clips together for a quick, low-tech video.
  • Carousel idea:
    Each slide is one “day” with a short explanation. For example:
    • Slide 6: “Six advocacy wins” with a caption about how you helped shape policy.

3. “‘Twas The Night Before Christmas” In <insert town name>

If you want something that feels like a story, use “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.” You do not have to rewrite the whole poem. Even a few stanzas can become a powerful narration over video clips or images. (Also, the original poem is in the public domain so there aren’t any worries about rights.)

You can:

  • Use it as the script for a short video with a voiceover
  • Post it as a long-form caption with photos from the year
  • Read it live at your December event

Template Opening Stanza For Chambers

’Twas the week before Christmas in <insert town name> bright,
When storefronts were glowing with twinkling light,
The businesses hustled, year-end goals in their sight,
While the chamber stood ready to help them shine bright.

Follow with a stanza or two that highlight what you do:

With workshops and warm leads and networking cheer,
They had guided small businesses all through the year,
From start-ups just forming to icons well known,
The chamber made sure businesses were never alone.

You can plug in:

  • A quick nod to your top programs: “From Leadership <insert town name> to our monthly cafés”
  • A mention of advocacy: “When issues arose at the city hall door, the chamber spoke up so they could do more”
  • A closing that invites action: renew, join, sponsor, shop local, or attend your next event

Why it works:
People already know the cadence, so it feels comfortable. You get to tell the story of the year in a warm, narrative way that positions the chamber as a steady, behind-the-scenes partner in every season.


How These Remixes Highlight Chamber Value

These playful formats are not just cute holiday extras. Used well, they:

  • Humanize the chamber
    Members see staff faces, hear your voices, and feel the personality behind the logo.
  • Reinforce benefits without sounding salesy
    Instead of a long bullet list of “what you get with membership,” you are naming those same benefits inside a story or song.
  • Spark shares and comments
    People tag their favorite businesses, sing along in the comments, or say things like “This is so <insert town name>.” That is organic reach you cannot buy.
  • Create hometown pride
    When you attach classic holiday formats to local landmarks, traditions, and business wins, you deepen the connection between your community, your chamber, and your town identity.

Implementation Tips For Any Chamber

  • Focus on recognizable wins: advocacy, visibility, connection, education, and shop local.
  • Use specific callouts to your town so it feels more familiar
  • In every version, end with a simple call to action, such as:
    • “Join <insert chamber name> in championing businesses year-round.”
    • “Renew your membership and keep this story going in <insert town name>.”
    • “This season, remember the businesses that make our community shine. Shop local, dine local, and tag your favorites.”

Holiday content doesn’t have to be time consuming and you don’t have to start from scratch. When you remix the stories and songs people already love, you invite them to see their chamber, and their business community, in the middle of the magic. Just stick with the older poems and carols so you don’t run into derivative rights license issues.
